Foden nets three as Man City pounds Aston Villa

Manchester City made sure they got their revenge as they punished Unai Emery’s men 4-1 at the Etihad yesterday, April 3.

Recall that in the reverse fixture of this game back in December 2023, Aston Villa dominated proceedings so much that they restricted Pep Guardiola’s Man City to just two shots all game. A game the Spaniard said was “the only game this season Man City deserved to lose.”

The title challengers set the record straight, as Phil Foden scored a hat trick to sink VIlla.

Spain midfielder Rodri opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but his goal was canceled out by Jhon Duran’s goal in the 20th minute.

Foden restored City’s lead in the 45th minute just before halftime with a superb freekick, then scored his second in the 62nd minute, before completing his hat trick in the 69th minute with a superb strike.

This win leaves Man City still in third, but on the same points as Liverpool (67), who plays later today.
