FECAFOOT suspends Nathan Doualla, 61 others over age fraud

The Cameroon Football Association, FECAFOOT, has suspended Nathan Doualla and 61 other players for age fraud. This is regarding several age fraud allegations leveled at the country’s football federation during the last African Cup of Nations that was held in Ivory Coast this year, The Guardian reports.

Doualla claimed to be 17 years of age at the time of the last AFCON. Doualla was, in fact, in the Cameroon squad for the last AFCON as the youngest player on their roster.

The implication of Doualla misrepresenting his age is grave for the federation, as proof that he did could see them get kicked out of international tournaments for the foreseeable future.

According to Goal.com, this is not the first time age-fraud allegations have been leveled against FECAFOOT, revealing that this is, in fact, the third year in a row that the federation would be immersed in age-related scandals. The AFCON rules are clear and will punish violations of these rules severely. If Doualla is proven to have falsified his age, Cameroon could be banned for the next two AFCONs.

Cameroon got past the group stage of the last AFCON but was knocked out in the Round of 16 by Nigeria.
