Euro 2024: England stands tall at table-top after low-scoring Group C matches

Gareth Southgate’s England left the match against Serbia with a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Serbia created more shots than its opponents on the night, but it was a poor-quality match overall. The quality of football was not any better in the other Group C game unfortunately, with Slovenia holding Denmark to a standstill.

England’s match against Serbia had only one goal, and it was scored by Jude Bellingham in the 13th minute, who at the time didn’t know that it was going to be the decisive goal.

Denmark, meanwhile, went behind to Slovenia in the 17th minute through a Christian Eriksen goal, but it wasn’t until the 77th minute that Slovenia’s Erik Janza equalized to level the game.

These results leave England top of the table, with Denmark and Slovenia tied on points in second and third place, and Serbia bottom.
