EPL: Impactful Garnacho wins two penalties to aid Manchester United's victory
Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho played a key role in their victory over Sean Dyche’s Everton when the two met in an early kickoff today. The forward won two penalties with his trickery, leading to Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
Dyche’s men needed the win, but they came up against an inform Garnacho who was a thorn in the side of the Merseyside club. In the 11th minute of the game, Garnacho dribbled into the box and was brought down by Everton captain James Tarkowski. The resulting penalty was put away by Man United captain Fernandes.
In the 35th minute, Garnacho dribbled into the box again, but this time Everton defender Ben Godfrey tried to tackle him and failed, fouling the youngster in the process. The resulting penalty, this time, was scored by Marcus Rashford.
Man United faced off against Everton at 1:30 pm today. Everton has been through a turbulent time so far, having seen six points deducted for violating Premier League Financial rules.
The win solidified Man United in 6th place with 47 points, with West Ham in 7th place with 42 points. Man United manager Erik ten Hag would be proud of his team for this one, especially because of the clean sheet.
Ten Hag’s men welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford next week Sunday in one of the most-watched football fixtures every season.
