Ekiti beefs up security after neighbouring attacks

In reaction to recent bandit attacks in bordering Kwara and Kogi states, the Ekiti State Police Command has strengthened security at all major entry and exit points to prevent criminal infiltration.
Coordinated security deployment
Police Public Relations Officer SP Sunday Abutu disclosed that a joint operation involving the police, the Amotekun Corps, and other security agencies has been launched. The deployment spans entry/exit routes and strategic sites across the state.
He emphasized that the move is strictly preventative, intended to deter threats rather than frighten citizens. “The deployment is purely preventive,” Abutu said, calling for cooperation and calm among residents.
Operational conduct and public appeal
The police commander, Joseph Eribo, instructed officers to operate with professionalism and civility. Abutu reminded citizens to remain alert, report suspicious behavior, and trust in the coordinated local effort.
He also addressed misinformation circulating on social media, clarifying that all deployed operatives are from within Ekiti State and that the security effort is locally led and coordinated.
