Tinubu’s government to highlight economic progress at France-Nigeria business forum in Paris – Minister Idris

On Friday, March 7, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, shared that Nigeria plans to showcase its significant economic achievements at the upcoming France-Nigeria Business Forum in Paris. The forum will focus on the reforms made under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Idris made the announcement in Abuja during a courtesy visit from the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Marc Fonbaustier, who invited him to the forum.

The minister emphasized that President Tinubu’s reform agenda has already led to noticeable progress, such as a reduction in food prices and a more stable naira. He stated, “This year, 2025, is the year of economic and social consolidation for Nigeria, as promised by Mr. President.”

He added, “Food prices that were once high are now coming down, and the exchange rate is starting to stabilize. The reforms put in place by Mr. President are showing results, and by God’s grace, we will reach our destination.”

Idris acknowledged that socio-economic reforms can be challenging at first but highlighted that President Tinubu’s focus and determination have helped to shorten the difficult period, leading to tangible success.

“Every country going through reforms faces challenges, but our own difficulties have been shortened by President Tinubu’s strong leadership and commitment to sustainable prosperity,” he said.

The Minister also praised the relationship between Nigeria and France, urging the French government to continue supporting President Tinubu’s reforms. He thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for the rare honor of a state visit to President Tinubu in November 2024, recognizing the significance of the gesture.

Ambassador Fonbaustier also expressed France’s support for strengthening Nigeria’s public communication efforts, following up on agreements made during President Tinubu’s visit to France. He added that communication and information are key to scaling up the partnership between the two countries.

Fonbaustier remarked, “We need to ensure that there is a practical follow-up of the agreements made during President Tinubu’s state visit to Paris. France can provide support in enhancing Nigeria’s capabilities in public communication.”

The France-Nigeria Business Forum is scheduled for April 10, 2025, where business leaders from both nations will gather to explore economic opportunities and strengthen ties.
