Edo Governor suspends Edoline bus commissioning in honour of late President Buhari

In a gesture of deep respect and national mourning, the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the suspension of the commissioning ceremony for 102 ultra-modern buses under the newly rebranded New Edoline Mass Transit Scheme.

According to a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the decision was made in light of the recent passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The Governor noted that proceeding with the flag-off ceremony at this time would be inappropriate and out of sync with the national mood.

“President Muhammadu Buhari was a towering figure in Nigeria’s democratic journey and governance history. As a people, we must reflect this period of national loss with appropriate solemnity. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the unveiling of the Edoline buses in honour of his memory,” Governor Okpebholo stated.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the late President’s immediate family, the government and people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians mourning this significant loss.

The Governor also expressed regret for any inconvenience the postponement may have caused to invited guests, dignitaries, stakeholders, and members of the public who had anticipated the event.

He assured the public that a new date for the commissioning would be announced soon and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering reliable and people-oriented public transportation. The Edoline initiative, he emphasized, will soon be operational to improve intra-urban mobility across Edo State.
