CSP Benjamin Hundeyin named new spokesperson for Nigeria Police

IGP appoints new voice for the Force

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). The announcement comes following the redeployment of DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Hundeyin brings solid experience and strong credentials

Hundeyin holds a degree in English from Lagos State University and a Master’s in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He’s also trained in Civil-Military Coordination at the Martin Luther Agwai Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre in Kaduna.

He’s a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).

Not new to the role or the spotlight

Before this appointment, Hundeyin served as the Police Public Relations Officer at both Zone 2 Command, Lagos, and the Lagos State Command—roles where he built a reputation for accessible and transparent communication.

In 2020, he also represented Nigeria in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan, and previously worked at Force Headquarters, Abuja, as an admin officer in the PR department.

IGP tasks him with strengthening public trust

The IGP has urged Hundeyin to leverage his experience in both law enforcement and public communications to strengthen the police force’s image and maintain strong ties with the public.
