Chelsea set to appoint Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca

Chelsea has been on the hunt for a new head coach since Monday, May 20, when Mauricio Pochettino walked out of the job, but the west London club is set to announce Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as the new head coach, Fabrizio Romano is reporting.

Pochettino had led Chelsea through a less-than-stellar campaign, finishing in 6th place and losing the EFL Cup final to Liverpool in extra time.

This appointment comes after the club has been linked to several managers including Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim, Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, and VfL Stuffgart’s Sebastien Hoeness, amongst many others.

It is in Chelsea’s best interest to end the search for a new manager quickly, as the transfer window will soon open and perhaps more importantly, players will soon start returning for the new season.
