Charles Okocha denies biting Portable during Lagos celebrity boxing rematch

Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has denied biting singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, during their recent celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.

Okocha dismissed the allegation during an appearance on TVC Entertainment on Tuesday. He insisted he wore a mouth guard throughout the contest and therefore could not have bitten his opponent.

The two celebrities faced off at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos on Friday. Okocha was declared the winner after Portable was disqualified for breaking the rules. Portable abandoned the wrestling techniques permitted under the contest format and resorted to punches, leading to his disqualification before he walked out of the ring.

After the bout, Portable accused Okocha of biting him on the back and locking his neck. He also questioned why the actor had taken part in the contest at all.

Responding to the claim, Okocha said the presence of a mouth guard made the allegation impossible. “Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” he said. He added that he would rather chew grass than bite Portable and suggested the singer should simply accept defeat.

The comments come days after a highly publicised rematch that drew attention because of the pair’s earlier boxing encounter. Okocha maintained that Portable should accept the outcome rather than continue making allegations about what happened inside the ring.

Celebrity contests of this nature often generate more post-fight narrative than the action itself. Disqualification for rule-breaking already settled the result. The subsequent accusation of biting introduced a separate claim that required direct rebuttal. Okocha’s response centres on a practical detail—the mouth guard—rather than prolonged engagement with the allegation.

Whether the claim was an attempt to reframe the loss or a genuine perception of events, the structural fact remains that Portable was disqualified for abandoning the agreed format. The winner’s position is that the result should stand without further embellishment. Public attention will now determine how long the accusation continues to circulate alongside the official outcome.
