Can Chelsea finally beat Manchester City at the third time of asking?

Three could be the lucky number for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino as the Argentine faces Manchester City for the third time this season, this time, in the FA Cup semifinal.

Recall that Chelsea also faced Pep Guardiola’s men in the semifinal of this same competition in the 2020/21 season under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues were victorious in that game, even though they lost the final to Leicester City to a Youri Tielemans long range strike.

Pochettino is yet to lose to Man City as a Chelsea manager, and this will be his third match against the Spaniard. The Chelsea boss is also yet to win too, recording two draws in both league fixtures.

Chelsea will look to Cole Palmer, who has been a revelation for the west London side, making the switch from Man City at the beginning of this season. The youngster has scored 23 goals for Chelsea in all competitions this season, providing 13 assists.

Guardiola has refused to express regret at letting the youngster go, claiming that he wanted him to stay, but Palmer insisted on going.

Man City has several players to look to in this one, as Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Julian Alvarez, and Phil Foden, are all players who can come up with good moments at a moment’s notice.

Will Chelsea find a win against Man City and secure a place in yet another FA Cup final? Or will Man City ultimately show Chelsea why seven places separate the two sides in the league table?
