Bwala dismisses Atiku’s claim that coalition can defeat Tinubu in 2027

Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has dismissed claims by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar that any coalition-backed candidate would defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Atiku, during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, had expressed confidence that a united opposition could unseat the current administration, describing Tinubu’s government as a disappointment, particularly in its handling of the economy.

He said a coalition candidate would be “dead on arrival” for the President, adding that he had not seen a government as poor as the current one.

Reacting in a post on X, Bwala, a former spokesperson to Atiku, rejected the claim, arguing that the former vice-president lacks the political strength to defeat Tinubu.

He noted that Atiku had already lost the 2023 presidential election despite having the backing of governors, states and established political structures.

Bwala further maintained that the current coalition being proposed by opposition figures lacks the necessary political base to pose a serious challenge to the ruling party.

According to him, the coalition is made up of “stateless” aggrieved leaders and would not significantly impact the outcome of the 2027 election.
