Burna Boy offers to pay funeral costs for stockton shooting victims

Afrobeats star Burna Boy has pledged to cover the funeral expenses of all four young victims killed in a recent mass shooting during a birthday party in Stockton, California.
The Nigerian singer’s gesture followed reports about the tragedy, which has left the Stockton community grieving and sparked global sympathy. According to TMZ, Burna Boy contacted officials shortly after learning about the incident.
The 34-year-old Grammy winner reportedly heard about the shooting while listening to The Breakfast Club radio show and immediately moved to provide support. He later contacted music executive Wack 100, who helped connect him with Stockton’s Vice Mayor, Jason Lee, to coordinate the offer.
“When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke,” Burna Boy said in a statement published by Parade. “No family should ever face this kind of pain alone.”
Among the victims was 14-year-old Amari Peterson, a student-athlete with a 3.8 GPA whose death has drawn widespread attention.
Vice Mayor Lee, who has been in communication with the families, commended Burna Boy’s response and described the offer as a compassionate act at a difficult time.
This is not the first time Burna Boy has engaged in philanthropic efforts. Through his REACH Nigeria Foundation, he has previously supported vulnerable families and communities in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and beyond.
The Stockton shooting has renewed conversations around community safety and gun violence in the United States as families continue to process the loss.
