BREAKING: Senate dismisses Ndume as Chief Whip, appoints Monguno

The Nigerian Senate has dismissed Senator Ali Ndume as Chief Whip, and immediately named Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno as his replacement.

This was in sharp response to a complaint by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The complaint was contained in a letter that was read out by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio during the last plenary.

The letter, signed by Ganduje and the National Secretary of the Party, Senator Surajudeen Bashir, explained that Ndume, in his capacity as Chief Whip, was working to bring down the country with careless, unguarded speech.

The letter was referring to his media interview where he alleged that “President Bola Tinubu is working with thieves and has also been caged, such that he didn’t know Nigerians are hungry.”

After the letter was read by Akpabio, he put to voice vote for Monguno to be admitted as the Chief Whip of the Senate.

The vote went in favour of Monguno.
