BREAKING: NLC calls for Ajaero’s release and rollback of fuel price hike before midnight
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) held an emergency meeting in Abuja on Monday, September 9, 2024. This urgent gathering came after the arrest and detention of their President, Joe Ajaero.
Ajaero was detained at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while he was heading to the United Kingdom for a meeting.
At the emergency meeting, the NLC made a firm demand: they wanted Ajaero to be “immediately and unconditionally released” before midnight that night (Monday, September 9).
In addition, the NLC asked for an immediate rollback of the recent increase in the price of petrol to N617 per litre.
The NLC announced that they have put all their groups, state councils, allies, and the public on high alert. They also scheduled an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) for 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
