On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, just before noon, the country’s power grid collapsed, causing electricity outages in several areas. The official @NationalGridNg account on X (formerly Twitter) shared the news.
“There was a ‘GRID DISTURBANCE’ before noon today. Parts of the country experienced outages. More info coming soon,” the message said.
Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company also tweeted about the power loss at 11:34 AM.
“Please note that we experienced a system outage today, February 12, 2025, at 11:34 AM, affecting all our power lines. We’re working hard with our partners to restore power,” the company wrote.
