Bracket’s Smash says P-Square feud is ‘spiritual,’ not normal

“It’s deeper than people think,” singer reveals on podcast
Nigerian singer Obumneme Ali, popularly known as Smash from the music duo Bracket, says the long-standing rift between P-Square’s twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, is “spiritual.”
Appearing on the AFRIMMA Podcast alongside his bandmate Vast, Smash opened up about his personal relationship with the Okoye brothers and claimed that even Paul agrees the fallout isn’t just ordinary.
“The last time I met Paul, I told him his problem with Peter wasn’t normal — it’s spiritual. And he agreed with me,” Smash said.
“They were incredibly close”
Smash described the duo’s former bond as “deep,” noting that the split feels heartbreaking given how passionate both brothers were about the P-Square brand.
“If you know how close these guys were and how they worked, you’d feel bad about what’s going on now,” he added.
“Jude [Okoye] was part of P-Square too. They all loved the brand.”
Smash says he speaks to both
While Smash said he’s “closer to Paul,” he also visits Peter regularly and claims the singer is open to conversations.
“Peter always listens when I talk to him,” he noted.
P-Square, one of Nigeria’s biggest pop acts in the 2000s and early 2010s, famously split in 2017 due to personal and business differences. Although they reconciled briefly in 2021, tensions between the brothers appear to remain unresolved.
