Bayer Leverkusen goes league season unbeaten

Xabi Alonso-led Bayer Leverkusen played its last Bundesliga game of the season on Saturday, May 18, winning it 2-1 and securing the first ever Bundesliga unbeaten season for a club.

Many had wondered if the Bundesliga champions could indeed go unbeaten, and Alonso’s men have proved that they could.

Leverkusen won their first ever league title this season, and gathered 90 points for the first time since the 2013/14 season when Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich also won 90 points.

Alonso’s men won 28 games and drew six.

Leverkusen, in addition to going unbeaten in the league, could also go unbeaten in all competitions this season, which would be unprecedented.

Leverkusen still has to play against Atalanta in the Europa League final on Wednesday, May 22 and the DfB Pokal final against FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday, May 25.
