Atiku and Obi coalition is best for 2027 victory

The Deputy National Financial Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Fabiyi Oladimeji, has dismissed the viability of a Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket. He insists that such a pairing lacks the numerical strength required to unseat the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Oladimeji noted that the results of the 2023 general election provide a clear roadmap for the opposition’s future. He maintained that only a combined force featuring former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi could guarantee a decisive victory at the polls.
Opposition forces must unite to defeat APC
The ADC chieftain pointed out that the combined votes of the top three opposition candidates in the last election far exceeded the President’s tally. He estimated that these forces together garnered nearly 15 million votes compared to the eight million that secured the presidency.
“Even Kwankwaso and Obi cannot give us the number,” Oladimeji stated bluntly during the briefing. He stressed that a broader coalition is the only way to bridge the gap and present a formidable challenge to the current administration.
Rescuing Nigeria is more important than ambition
Oladimeji called on the frontline candidates to sacrifice their personal aspirations for the sake of the country’s stability. He noted that Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi have already expressed a willingness to support whoever emerges as a consensus leader.
He urged Peter Obi to make a similar commitment to ensure the opposition remains united ahead of the next cycle. For the ADC leader, the 2027 election is not about individual glory but about rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges.
