Argentina stars hire private security after World Cup win over England

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez and Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister reportedly hired private security firms to guard their homes in the United Kingdom following Argentina’s victory over England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to The Sun, the two Argentina internationals arranged for security personnel to patrol their properties for two days after the heated World Cup semi-final, amid concerns that emotions surrounding the result could spill over off the pitch.
The report stated that no attempts were made to vandalise or target either player’s home during the period the security teams were deployed.
Argentina booked their place in the World Cup final after coming from behind to defeat England 2-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
England had taken the lead through Anthony Gordon before Argentina mounted a second-half comeback.
Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez secured victory for the reigning world champions, ending England’s hopes of reaching the final.
The dramatic result sparked strong reactions from fans of both nations, prompting Martinez and Mac Allister to reportedly take precautionary measures to protect their homes while emotions remained high.
Neither player has publicly commented on the reported security arrangements.
Both Martinez and Mac Allister play for Premier League clubs and have become key members of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad in recent years.
Argentina will now turn their attention to the World Cup final as they seek to retain the title they won in Qatar in 2022.
