Real Madrid midfielder Manuel Ángel and Barcelona defensive midfielder Marc Casadó left their clubs on transfer deadline day.
Real Madrid said on Tuesday that Ángel had joined Premier League club Fulham on a permanent transfer. He arrived at Madrid in 2018 at the age of 14 and made his first-team debut this year. “Real Madrid wishes him and his family all the best in this new chapter of his life,” the club said.
Barcelona announced that Casadó had joined Deportivo La Coruña on a season-long loan. The 22-year-old scored one goal and provided seven assists in 75 appearances for the Blaugrana and won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
The two moves sit at different points on the same ladder. Ángel is leaving the academy path at Madrid for regular senior football in England. Casadó, already a decorated squad player at Barcelona, is going out on loan to seek minutes rather than remaining a depth option at the Camp Nou. Deadline day often produces exactly this pattern: a young first-team debutant sold while he still has value, and a homegrown midfielder parked elsewhere for a season so that both player and parent club can reassess in twelve months. Whether Fulham become Ángel’s long-term home, and whether Casadó returns to Barcelona as a starter, will be decided by how much they play—not by the statements issued as the window shut.
