The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing an alternative to the political status quo, promising purposeful leadership based on character, competence, and accountability.
This pledge was made by the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held in Abuja on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Nigerians tired of slogans, Mark says
Mark, a former Senate President, criticised what he described as a growing disconnect between political slogans and real solutions.
“Nigerians are weary of political slogans and empty statistics that do not translate to food, jobs, power, or safety,” he said.
He argued that the time has come for a values-based political revolution, one that focuses on results, not rhetoric.
ADC promises leadership driven by principles
Mark outlined four non-negotiable qualities the party would demand from its leaders: character, competence, courage, and discipline. These principles, he said, would be used to select candidates and assess performance in office.
“The ADC will be an institution of purpose, not impulse — a party that respects its constitution, promotes internal democracy, and serves the people,” Mark added.
Launch of a new performance compact
The party used the meeting to unveil its Integrity and Performance Compact, a policy blueprint anchored on:

The compact also commits the ADC to restoring legislative and judicial independence and promoting clean elections.
Supporting farmers and small businesses
Mark said the ADC would place a strong emphasis on the rural economy. This includes increasing support for farmers, providing affordable credit to small businesses, and protecting local industries from unfair competition.
“Nigeria’s development will come from the ground up — from farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs,” he stated.
A call to rebuild institutions
Beyond electoral victory, the ADC wants to rebuild national institutions to function with integrity, efficiency, and impartiality.
Mark noted that many of Nigeria’s problems stem from weak institutions and the absence of accountability, not a lack of resources.
