ADC begs Kekere-Ekun for urgent judgment delivery

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. The party seeks the immediate delivery of a judgment regarding the leadership crisis currently rocking its ranks.
Senator David Mark leads the faction that authored the urgent letter dated April 28. The group warned that the Supreme Court must act within three days to prevent the party’s total exclusion from the 2027 general elections.
Deadline pressure mounts on opposition party
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has already released the election timetable and schedule of activities. The ADC faces a critical 11-day deadline to submit its membership registers to the electoral body.
Counsel to the faction, Shuaibu Aruwa, SAN, signed the passionate plea to the apex court. He noted that the court heard the appeal on April 22 but reserved the final judgment for a later date.
Millions of Nigerian voters face disenfranchisement
The party argues that the current legal limbo has left the ADC without a recognized leadership. They claim that any further delay will cause irreparable harm to the constitutional rights of their members nationwide.
The letter stressed that millions of Nigerians who subscribe to the ADC ideals could lose their right to contest. The Supreme Court panel, headed by Justice Mohammed Garba, is expected to decide the fate of the embattled political platform.
