The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has reiterated that it is a cultural and socio-political organisation that does not engage in partisan politics.
Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba, ACF Publicity Secretary, clarified in a statement that while members are free to hold personal political beliefs, they do not represent the forum in political capacities.
The clarification comes after a statement circulated by someone claiming to speak for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) suggested that ACF had endorsed their party and candidate at a meeting in Ilesha, Osun State, on March 31, 2026.
Muhammad-Baba explained that Alhaji Murtala Aliyu, Mutawallen Gombe, the Secretary General of ACF, attended the meeting at the invitation of Afenifere solely to observe and strengthen relations between socio-cultural groups, including ACF, Afenifere, and the Northern Elders Forum. He emphasized that Aliyu’s presence was to discuss cooperation among the regional groups, not to endorse any political party.
