Abiodun commissions reconstructed roads in Ifo pledges more infrastructure projects

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday commissioned the newly reconstructed Akute–Ajuwon–Alagbole road in Ifo local government, describing it as a transformative milestone for the area and the state. He criticized previous administrations for neglecting the Alagbole-Akute-Ajuwon-Agbado-Ijoko axis despite its economic importance.
Governor Abiodun disclosed that the two roads commissioned at the event were the 1.5-kilometre Alagbole–Ajuwon road and the 4.5-kilometre Akute–Ajuwon road, while the Alagbole–Akute road is expected to be completed in two to three weeks. He announced plans to award eleven more roads for reconstruction, including the 17-kilometre Akute–Sango corridor, which will be executed in two phases.
The governor highlighted that the projects form part of his administration’s broader Urban Renewal Programme, covering infrastructure, education, security, healthcare, and human capital development across Ifo I and II in Ogun Central Senatorial District. Other completed or ongoing projects include Sango–Ijoko–Agbado road, Magboro–Makogi road, and Oke–Lantoro–Yidi Lane.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Fola Salami, member representing Ifo II State Constituency, and Ifo LGA Chairman Lekan Kusimo, praised the governor for reversing decades of neglect. Community leaders, including Alhaji Bashiru Akande and the Odofin of Isheri, Oba Sulaimon Bamgbade, also commended the administration for delivering the roads.
State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said the new roads would ease traffic, boost business activities, and urged residents to maintain the facilities. Governor Abiodun also thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting state infrastructure development across Nigeria.
