Abba Moro calls on Atiku to help fix his party’s big troubles

On Wednesday, April 30, Senator Abba Moro, who helps lead the Senate and is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared his thoughts on a big problem in his party.

He said that Atiku Abubakar, the man who ran for President in 2023 with the PDP, should be doing more to help the party come back together.

The PDP has been having a tough time since it lost the 2023 presidential election. Things got worse when important leaders in Delta State, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the former governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, left the PDP and joined another group called the All Progressives Congress (APC). This was a big surprise because Delta State had supported the PDP for a long time.

Now, some people are worried that Atiku might even switch to another party before the next big election in 2027.

During an interview on Tuesday, April 29, Senator Moro told Channels Television that he believes Atiku should take the lead in fixing the party’s problems.

When asked who should help the PDP get through this hard time, Moro said it should be Atiku because he still wants to be President through the PDP.

He said, “Given his ambition to contest one day and wishing to contest once more, I expected Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to have started from day one after the 2023 election to galvanise the PDP and hold some levels of cohesion within the party.”

Moro added, “So, quite frankly, I think that if there was any person at that point in time to bring the party together from the fallout and disastrous outing of the PDP in 2023, that person certainly was Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

Also on Tuesday, April 29, the leaders of the PDP met at their office in Abuja to talk about the problems and try to find solutions.
