Man City’s Phil Foden wins PFA player of the year

Phil Foden was named the Players’ Player of the Year 2024, while Cole Palmer clinched the Young Player of the Year award at the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) award ceremony.

Foden, the Manchester City forward, was adjudged the best player of the previous English Premier League (EPL) season at the gala on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old defeated Rodri, Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Olie Watkins and Cole Palmer to win the coveted gong.

Foden has scored 25 goals — 17 in the EPL — and made 11 assists across the campaign in review. His goals contributed to a sixth EPL title for the Etihad side.

He had earlier been named the EPL player of the season and also the Football Writers Association (FWA) best player.

Palmer, on the other hand, won the young player award ahead of Bukayo Saka, Kobie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Joao Pedro, and the now-departed Michael Olise.

The 22-year-old had an incredible breakout season with Chelsea following his move from Man City.

He was one of the few silver linings in an otherwise bleak season for the Blues, notching 22 EPL goals and 11 assists.
