2027 is a done deal for APC, says new party chairman Yilwatda

Newly-appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe, officially assumed office on Thursday with a confident proclamation that the ruling party is already set to win the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja during a meeting with members of the National Working Committee (NWC), Nentawe pledged to expand the APC’s influence across all tiers of governance, declaring the next election cycle as firmly in the party’s favour.
“Our doors are open to welcome members. We look forward to having more governors, more senators, more National Assembly members, more local government chairmen, and more Nigerians in our party,” he said.
“We will expand beyond bounds. I am sure by God’s grace that 2027 is a done deal for APC.”
Nentawe, who was recently appointed to lead the party, thanked APC leaders and supporters for entrusting him with the role, describing it as both a privilege and a heavy responsibility.
“I count it a rare privilege and I must appreciate God, the leadership of our party, our governors, National Assembly, National Working Committee members, and all the teeming loyal supporters of APC for resting this burden of trust on me,” he said.
He acknowledged the support he has already received from members of the NWC and expressed optimism about working with them to strengthen the party.
“I have met virtually all the members of the National Working Committee in one form of service or the other—whether during election monitoring, primary elections, or campaigns in various states,” he noted.
“You have been my friends, you have been my partners, and I expect nothing less than full cooperation from all of us to work together as a team.”
The new chairman also emphasized the importance of transparency, innovation, and inclusion in party operations.
“We will deepen the use of technology, ensure transparency, and engage all Nigerians—including those in the diaspora—who are contributing to the party’s success,” he said.
Prof. Nentawe concluded by reiterating his commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive APC, with a clear focus on consolidating its dominance ahead of 2027.
