Zion prayer movement expands free healthcare, orphanage services in southeast

Evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi, founder of the Seraphic Homes Foundation (SHF) and Spiritual Director of the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, has restated his lifelong dedication to supporting vulnerable Nigerians as the foundation rolls out more humanitarian projects across Imo and Anambra states.

Obi, speaking during a media chat on Friday, November 21, said assisting the needy has defined his entire life, noting that he owns no personal house despite building multi-billion-naira facilities for the poor.

He said his passion for charity grew from childhood, recalling how he shared food with people long before he understood humanitarian work. SHF currently runs Imo State’s first Old People’s Home and Orphanage, and a newly commissioned free-treatment psychiatric hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State.

Obi explained that the psychiatric centre was created to tackle the long-standing neglect of mentally challenged people in the country. The facility offers diagnosis, medication, rehabilitation, accommodation and welfare all free of charge and is staffed by medical professionals without government funding. He stressed that employees are fully paid and the foundation does not solicit forced donations.

He added that while the organisation has appealed for support from the Anambra State Government, it continues to operate independently. Rescued individuals, he said, undergo medical stabilisation before receiving vocational training and reintegration support. He dismissed reports of community resistance, noting that residents often celebrate the foundation’s interventions.

Obi said online criticism does not deter him, insisting that negative comments will not affect SHF’s mission.

Looking ahead, he announced that SHF will commission a free delivery home next Easter, offering maternity services at no cost. He expressed optimism that the foundation’s work will outlive him.
