Yul Edochie calls for South-East presidency despite support for Tinubu

Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has called for Nigeria’s next president to emerge from the South-East, citing fairness and equity as key reasons for his stance.
In a video shared via his Instagram page on Monday, Edochie said,
“The next President of Nigeria should come from the South-East in fairness and equity. That’s just the truth and that’s how it should be.”
His comments have sparked surprise among fans and political observers, given his well-known support for President Bola Tinubu, who has signaled interest in seeking reelection in 2027.
Edochie has previously urged Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu’s administration, defending its economic policies and asserting that citizens would soon begin to reap the benefits of ongoing reforms.
His latest statement is seen by many as a notable shift in tone, possibly signaling changing political sentiments or a broader call for national inclusion in leadership.
