“You’re all re-elected,” Tinubu jokes with NASS members at 2025 budget presentation

On Wednesday, December 18, President Bola Tinubu shared a lighthearted moment with lawmakers during his presentation of the 2025 national budget at the National Assembly.

While addressing the joint session, the President humorously declared that all lawmakers were “re-elected” after mistakenly referring to the current Senate as the 11th instead of the 10th.

“In fulfilment of one of my constitutional duties and with an unyielding commitment to rebuilding Nigeria towards ensuring that we remain steadfast on a journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly,” Tinubu said.

After some lawmakers quickly pointed out his error, the President laughed and replied, “10th? I wrote 11th, which means you’re all re-elected.”

This light moment came after some lawmakers had previously interrupted the session by singing the President’s anthem, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand.”
