You will get trouble if you’re looking for it – Falz to VeryDarkMan

Nigerian singer and activist Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has issued a stark warning to social media critic VeryDarkMan, stating that he will indeed find the trouble he is seeking. This comment comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between the two.

The controversy began with a leaked voice recording featuring crossdresser Bobrisky, in which he alleged that Falz and his father, Femi Falana—an esteemed human rights lawyer—contacted him regarding a N10 million presidential pardon during Bobrisky’s six-month imprisonment for naira abuse. The audio was disseminated by VeryDarkMan on social media, igniting a wave of reactions online.

In response to the backlash, Falz clarified through a lawsuit that it was Bobrisky who reached out to him for financial assistance, not the other way around.

During a recent interview on the Afro Beats podcast on Wednesday, Falz emphasized that VeryDarkMan has no evidence to support his claims. He expressed his frustration over VeryDarkMan’s refusal to issue a public apology, stating, “When I reached out to him over the audio, this guy was instantly defensive from the beginning; I’m like bro, try and listen. What are you instantly fighting about?”

Falz recounted VeryDarkMan’s dismissive response: “And he said without mincing words, ‘shebi you are a lawyer, you can go to court.’”

He further elaborated on the potential legal ramifications of defamation, noting, “I will have him know that there is a criminal angle to defamation, but I chose not to go that way. He could have been arrested because what you posted is absolutely false, and I need you to take it down and tender an apology within a certain amount of time and what did he do? Nothing.”

Falz criticized VeryDarkMan for not apologizing and expressed concern that this situation has led some to portray him as an oppressor. He concluded with a clear message: “So if you say you want to find trouble, that is my work. If you insist that’s what you are looking for, let’s go.”
