Wizkid and Asake’s “Jogodo” breaks spotify Nigeria streaming record

Wizkid and Asake’s new collaboration, “Jogodo”, has shattered the all-time record for the biggest streaming week on Spotify Nigeria, surpassing five million streams with two days still left in the tracking period.
Released on January 16, the Afrobeats hit has rapidly dominated Nigerian music charts, topping Spotify Nigeria and Apple Music Nigeria while setting new single-day streaming records. “Jogodo” is the lead single from the forthcoming Real Vol. 1 EP and has also appeared on global discovery charts, including Shazam and Spotify’s Top Songs Debut Global, while leading regional platforms such as Audiomack Nigeria, signaling Afrobeats’ continued international rise.
Fans have flooded social media with praise, posting celebratory memes and predicting even higher numbers by the end of the week. Responses on X lauded Wizkid as the “biggest Nigerian artist ever” and highlighted the song’s widespread appeal across Africa and beyond.
The achievement eclipses previous records held by other Afrobeats hits, reinforcing the genre’s growing influence on global music.
