Wike says Tinubu’s achievements have “killed coalition” ahead of 2027 elections

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has praised President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure push, claiming that the president’s “good works have killed coalition in Nigeria.”
As the country looks ahead to the 2027 general election, opposition leaders—led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar—have formed a coalition aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, Wike believes Tinubu’s performance has disrupted their plans.
Speaking during the commissioning of road projects in Abuja, Wike remarked that despite the president’s achievements, some individuals remain dissatisfied.
“Some people, whatever you do, will not be happy; many of them were born not to be happy,” Wike said. “Under Tinubu, contractors now have confidence in the government. Your good works have killed the coalition in Nigeria.”
At the same event, President Tinubu acknowledged that Wike is not yet a member of the APC but said the party remains open to welcoming him should he decide to join.
Tinubu made the comments while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road), along with other road projects in Katampe District.
He said the APC is “in a joyous mood” with Wike, while the opposition continues to “writhe in pain.”
