Victony reveals how 2021 accident hanged his parents’ view on His music career

Nigerian singer Anthony Ebuka Victor, popularly known as Victony, has shared how his parents, once skeptical of his music career, became supportive after his near-fatal car accident in 2021.
Speaking on the Behind The Prestige podcast, Victony revealed that although his parents never discouraged him outright, they had hoped he would pursue engineering instead. However, their stance changed when they saw the overwhelming public support he received after the accident.
“My parents were not cool with me doing music from the jump… But when I had my accident in 2021 and they saw how much impact I had on people… they realised my music career meant a lot to me,” he said.
The accident, which claimed one life and left three others injured, marked a turning point not just in his health journey but also in how his family perceived his career. The singer disclosed that he has undergone four surgeries since then.
Victony rose to fame after his breakout hit “Holy Father” featuring Mayorkun in 2021 and has since delivered chart-toppers like “Soweto” and “Ohema”, solidifying his status as one of Nigeria’s most promising young music stars.
