VeryDarkMan protests at Wike’s residence over teachers’ strike

Popular social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), staged a dramatic protest on Monday outside the Abuja residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The protest comes in response to Wike’s announcement that the FCT Administration would withhold 10 percent of statutory allocations to area councils that fail to implement the new minimum wage for primary school teachers — a move that has contributed to an ongoing teachers’ strike.

In a symbolic gesture, VDM gathered schoolchildren dressed in uniforms and held a mock classroom session at the gate of the minister’s residence. During the lesson, he taught the pupils the alphabet with politically charged examples.

“S for Suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” VDM chanted, as the children echoed his words.

He declared that Wike’s residence would now serve as a classroom for affected students, highlighting the impact of the strike on children’s education.

The protest has sparked reactions on social media, with many praising the activist for spotlighting the issue in an unconventional way, while others questioned the involvement of children in the demonstration.
