VeryDarkMan denies threatening Wike’s life over Ogbebor land revocation

Social media star Martins Ortse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is clearing the air after accusations surfaced that he threatened the life of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The rumors started after Wike revoked land that belonged to the family of the late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor.

On Wednesday, December 11, a video went viral claiming Wike had taken the Ogbebor family’s land, which had been allocated to them back in 1981. Soon after, a WhatsApp broadcast message suggested that VeryDarkMan had threatened Wike over the decision.

In a post on his Instagram that same day, VDM strongly denied the allegations. He made it clear that he wasn’t behind any threats and that he was simply using his platform to ask Wike to look again at the land documents presented by the Ogbebor family.

“I did not threaten Nyesom Wike’s life, and I am not associated with the WhatsApp broadcast making the rounds,” VDM said. “I was only appealing to the minister to take a second look at the land documents presented by the sons and families of late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor, who was a war veteran and the first cadet of the NDA code 001. All the land documents and allocations are genuine.”

VDM explained that the video he posted was edited by someone else, adding a misleading caption that made it appear as though he was threatening Wike. He emphasized that he doesn’t engage in threatening behavior.

“What I do with my platform is to speak up for people who are oppressed and seek justice when they are in the right part of the law,” he said. “I have never threatened anybody’s life before, so imagine that they will now claim I’m threatening Wike. The only thing I did in that video was to plead that he could take a second look at those people’s documents because they are the sole owners of that land.”
