Van der Vaart claims every player, even Barcelona stars, dream of playing for Real Madrid
On Thursday, December 5, former Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart made bold statements about the allure of the Spanish club, declaring that Real Madrid is the team every player dreams of joining — even those from their fierce rivals, Barcelona.
In an interview with TalkSport, the former Netherlands international, who spent two seasons at Real Madrid, said he was unsure of the exact reasons behind the club’s global appeal but emphasized its dominance over Barcelona.
“Real Madrid is the club everyone wants to play for. I don’t know what it is about them, but it’s much more than Barcelona,” Van der Vaart stated. “Every player in the world, also the players from FC Barcelona, want to play for Real Madrid. I am 100% sure.”
Van der Vaart, who netted 12 goals in 73 appearances for Los Blancos, won the Supercopa de España during his tenure, though he fell short of securing a La Liga title with the club. His comments add fuel to the ongoing debate about the magnetic pull of Real Madrid, one of the most successful and storied clubs in football history.
