US VP Vance says Ukraine war unlikely to end soon, urges negotiated peace

US Vice President JD Vance has stated that the war in Ukraine is unlikely to end in the near future, calling on both Russia and Ukraine to take ownership of peace efforts.

Speaking in an interview on Special Report with Bret Baier on Fox News, Vance said the ongoing conflict had reached a point where both sides are aware of each other’s conditions for peace.

“It’s going to be up to the Russians and Ukrainians now that each side knows what the other’s terms for peace are,” he said. “It’s going to be up to them to come to an agreement and stop this brutal, brutal conflict.”

Vance added bluntly, “It’s not going anywhere, Bret. It’s not going to end any time soon.”

The vice president’s remarks come amid continued fighting and stalled diplomatic efforts, underscoring Washington’s apparent shift towards encouraging direct negotiations between the warring nations.
