UCL: Wenger singles out PSG player for admiration despite defeat

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has expressed admiration for Portugal and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Vitinha as the sole standout performer in the UEFA Champions League semifinal clash against Dortmund on Tuesday, May 7.

Despite high expectations, PSG faced elimination at Parc des Princes after succumbing to Dortmund’s prowess.

In his analysis of PSG’s lackluster display, Wenger lamented the team’s heavy reliance on individual brilliance from star players like Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.

Instead, he commended Vitinha for his consistent delivery of quality passes throughout the match, highlighting him as the lone bright spot amidst PSG’s collective disappointment.

Speaking to beIN Sports, the Frenchman remarked, “Only Vitinha in midfield performed tonight and produced all the good balls. After that, it was down to individual actions, to Dembele and Mbappe, and that’s what happened.”
