Trump reacts to US economy adding 228,000 jobs in March amid rise in unemployment rate

On Friday, April 4, former President Donald Trump expressed enthusiasm over the latest jobs report, which showed that the US economy added 228,000 new jobs in March, surpassing economists’ expectations of 140,000.
The data, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, also revealed a slight uptick in the unemployment rate, which rose from 4.1% to 4.2%.
Trump took to Truth Social to share his excitement, calling the report a “great job number, far better than expected.” He added, “It is already working. Hang tough, we can’t lose.”
However, the positive jobs report was somewhat overshadowed by Trump’s recent announcement of controversial new tariffs, which have raised concerns that the US economy might be heading toward a recession.
In related news, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, has been pushing for significant federal employment cuts. These cuts, which would involve terminating probationary workers, have been temporarily halted by a court ruling, leaving many of the affected workers in a state of legal uncertainty.
