Troops foils bandits’ incursion in Kano communities after gun battle

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) have foiled an attempted incursion by suspected bandits into communities in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State following a prolonged gun battle.
The clash, which began late Thursday night and continued into the early hours of Friday, occurred in Yankwada, Babanduhu and other neighbouring villages in the area.
Confirming the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigerian Army’s spokesperson in Kano, Major Zubair Babatunde, said the assailants attempted to enter the communities on motorcycles while firing sporadically.
He explained that troops of the JTF swiftly responded to the attack, engaging the bandits in a fierce exchange of gunfire and successfully repelling them from the area.
According to Babatunde, the prompt action of the security forces prevented the attackers from gaining access to the communities, adding that normalcy has since been restored.
He assured residents of the military’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
