Tiwa Savage opens up on cheating in relationships, says it’s not a dealbreaker
Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage has revealed that infidelity is not a dealbreaker for her in relationships, emphasizing that she has never left a partner solely because of cheating. The award-winning singer shared this during her appearance on the Receipts Podcast on Spotify, where she spoke candidly about her experiences with love and betrayal.
“I’ve been cheated on before. I found out and forgave every time,” Tiwa said, adding, “Every man I’ve ever been with has cheated, and I’ve never left them because of it. I’ve left for other reasons, but not because they cheated. Cheating is not my hill.”
However, Tiwa noted that the dishonesty and disrespect that often accompany infidelity are more challenging to endure. “What hurts is the lies about it. Maybe other people had known, and then I kind of felt stupid about it. Or if it’s close to home, that disrespect is why I could leave,” she explained.
The singer further revealed that her reasons for ending relationships have included emotional abuse, substance misuse, and financial misconduct. “I’ve left for so many other reasons like drug abuse, being ghosted, stealing, and financial things,” she added.
Tiwa also touched on the normalization of cheating in society, pointing out that it has historical roots. “I feel like we’ve always been here, even back in the day, even going back to the Bible and history,” she said, reflecting on how infidelity has long been woven into societal norms.
Tiwa Savage’s remarks have sparked conversations on social media, with some applauding her honesty and others critiquing the acceptance of infidelity in relationships. As a prominent figure in the African music industry, her comments continue to draw attention and fuel debates on modern relationship dynamics.
