Tinubu explains why fuel prices went up to Nigerians in China
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu explained to Nigerians in China why the price of petrol recently went up.
On Tuesday, September 5, NIGERIANS ONLINE reported that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, is now priced between N897 and N1000.
Tinubu wrapped up his official trip to China on Friday, September 6, in Beijing, where he met with Nigerians living and working in the country. He described the visit as “very good and successful.”
He talked about the fuel price increase, saying it was due to tough choices his government had to make.
“For example, you might have been hearing from home in the last few days about fuel prices,” he said. “But, can we help it? Can we develop good roads like you have here? You see electricity being constant in quantity and quality.”
The President added that with some sacrifice from Nigerians, the country could achieve similar basic amenities that people enjoy in China, like good water supply and quality schools.
