France football legend Thierry Henry has named Barcelona as one of the favorites to win the UEFA Champions League this season.
Speaking on CBS Sports, the former Arsenal and Barcelona striker praised the team’s recent performances under their new manager, Hansi Flick, who joined the club in the summer after a successful spell at Bayern Munich.
Barcelona has been impressive this season, recovering from a tough start in their opening Champions League match against AS Monaco, to secure big wins against teams like Young Boys, Bayern Munich, and Crvena zvezda.
Henry believes Barcelona’s past disappointments could actually help them go further in the tournament this time. Reflecting on their recent setbacks, he said: “Sometimes, you need to lose in the semi-finals or quarter-finals to understand how tough it is to get knocked out. But I do think they are ready to go all the way this time.”
Henry, who won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009, added that this current team has the potential to lift the trophy this season.
