Tems reveals the challenges of celebrity life in Nigeria
R&B star Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, discussed the complexities of her fame in Nigeria during a podcast interview with Big Boy TV in the United States.
She shared that her celebrity status often complicates her ability to move freely in her home country.
Recalling a frightening experience, Tems said, “I almost got mobbed last December while driving in Lagos.” She explained that due to her popularity, she can no longer drive without police escorts. “If I want to drive, I must have police escorts at the front and the back,” she added.
Tems, who identifies as an introvert, admitted that she initially struggled with the pressures of fame but has since adjusted to the demands of her career.
