Tems receives billboard diamond award, solidifies global influence

Nigerian international sensation Tems has received the prestigious Billboard Diamond Award, marking another significant milestone in her rapidly ascending career. The award was presented at the Billboard Global Power Players event, where fellow Nigerian music icon Olamide was also honored.
Tems’ recognition is a testament to her growing dominance in the global music scene, particularly in the United States, where she continues to stand out as one of Africa’s most successful musical exports. Her recent hit single “Love Me Jeje” has earned a Gold certification from the RIAA, adding to her already impressive collection of certifications.
Earlier this year, the Grammy-winning singer received four additional RIAA certifications, further cementing her status as one of the most decorated Nigerian artists in the U.S. “Love Me Jeje” also earned her a second Grammy Award for Best African Song Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Tems’ international appeal was evident at the 2025 Met Gala, where she graced the red carpet and used the opportunity to spotlight the richness of African music. In an interview, she emphasized that African music extends far beyond Afrobeats and has the potential to birth other globally recognized genres.
The singer has collaborated with global heavyweights including Beyoncé, Drake, and Future, and recently featured Grammy-winning rapper J. Cole on her debut album, ‘Born in the Wild.’ Earlier this year, she performed alongside Cole at the Dreamville Festival, further showcasing her global musical reach.
With a growing list of accolades and a global fan base, Tems continues to break boundaries and redefine what it means to be an African artist on the world stage.
