Senate suspends Natasha for 6 months

The Senate has suspended the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, for a period of six months.

The decision followed recommendations of the senate committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions.

While presenting the report during plenary on Thursday, the committee chairman, Neda Imasuen, said Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan was found guilty of all allegations filed against her.

The committee, therefore, recommended that her salary and that of her staff be suspended.

The committee further recommended that her security details and her office be locked and keyed during the suspension period.

The ethics committee also recommended that the senator should not be seen within the premises of the National Assembly.

The recommendations were subsequently approved by the lawmakers after it was put to a voice vote.
