On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, a terrible accident on the Damaturu-Maiduguri road in Yobe State took the lives of 10 people.
A cement truck, carrying both cement and passengers, lost control and crashed into a ditch. The truck had 13 people inside, and sadly, 10 of them died at the scene. Three others were rushed to the hospital with different injuries.
The Yobe State Police confirmed the accident, with SP Dungus Abdulkarim explaining, “The truck, carrying cement and passengers, lost control and crashed into a ditch. Out of the 13 passengers, 10 died instantly, and the remaining three were rushed to the Specialists Hospital in Damaturu for treatment.”
The crash happened after the truck’s brakes failed and it collided with a Sharon car at a checkpoint before swerving off the road. The driver of the Sharon car, who was alone, survived the crash but his vehicle was badly damaged.
