
A group of gunmen, who were dressed in black and numbered around seven, have kidnapped the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, in Imo State.
Chilos Godsent, the President of the Igbo National Council (INC), shared this sad news in a statement on Sunday morning, February 9, 2025.
Godsent explained that Igboayaka was taken away by the gunmen on Saturday, February 8, 2025, around 7 p.m. in Works Layout, Owerri, Imo State. The kidnappers used two cars, a Sienna and a Lexus SUV, to carry out the abduction and took Igboayaka to an unknown location.
His family is still reeling from the shock of the incident.
Godsent is calling on the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, to act quickly and rescue Igboayaka. He also urged them to bring the people responsible for the kidnapping to justice.
“The Igbo National Council (INC) calls on the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Command, to take immediate action to find the gunmen who kidnapped the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, on the evening of Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Owerri Metropolis, and to make the findings public,” the statement reads.
As of the time of reporting, the Imo Police Command has not yet responded to the incident.
